Is This $12-Per-Night Stay in Hội An Actually Worth It?

I recently stayed at VT Villa in Hội An, paying just $12 per night, and it turned out to be good value for money as long as you keep your expectations realistic.

The location is one of the biggest positives. VT Villa is well placed for the beach, local restaurants, and Hội An Old Town, making it easy to get around without feeling isolated. For the price, that alone makes it appealing.

There is a pool on-site, which I did not personally use, but it looked fine. The area around it felt a bit rustic, and some of the outdoor furniture was clearly old and worn, but nothing unusable. It has more of a lived-in, budget guesthouse feel rather than a polished resort vibe.

Inside the room, there were a few signs of age. Some mould, a bit of wall damage, and furniture that has seen better days, but nothing that felt seriously unhygienic or uncomfortable. It is not luxury by any means, but it also was not a dealbreaker, especially at this price point.

Overall, if you are a budget traveller, digital nomad, or someone who just needs a cheap base in Hội An, VT Villa delivers what you pay for. It is not perfect, but for $12 a night, it does enough right to make it worth considering.

My conclusion is that: Not fancy, slightly rough around the edges, but solid value for money if location and price matter more than aesthetics.
